We are also active in speaking at conferences, and assisting with Alternative Dispute Resolution. Our address is 2 Lynwood Avenue, Epsom, Surrey, KT17 4LQ. Tel: 01372 742372; e-mail: post@barsby.com. Both A. W. and C. Barsby and non-practising barristers. They are regulated by the General Council of the Bar and in relation to professional matters subject to its Code of Conduct.
Andrew Barsby is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (A. C. I. Arb.) and an Accredited Mediator.
Our books are practical guides to the law of England and Wales. They are written mainly for members of the public who want to understand the law in some detail.   For lawyers and other professionals they are useful summaries of the law, and also a source of references to legislation, case law and other materials.
If you are a user of one of our books, and feel that the text is not clear, or needs expanding, please let us know (by e-mail if possible) and we can consider adding material to the Notes and Queries pages for the book, to cover the point.  Please remember, though, that material on this site is for use only with our books, and is made available on the same terms as material in our books - it is not intended as a substitute for legal advice and liability cannot be accepted for errors or omissions.
Bar Direct We are delighted to announce that we have been granted a licence by the General Council of the Bar - the body which regulates barristers - under the Bar Direct scheme. This means that we can approach Counsel (practising barristers) directly for advice, without having to engage solicitors first. The Bar Direct scheme will enable us to obtain help on difficult questions of law, and so maintain the high quality of our books.
Dispute Resolution. The cost and uncertainty of legal proceedings are well know. New techniques are designed to resolve legal disputes quickly and cheaply. For details see our property disputes website. We're always willing to discuss possibilities for resolving disputes by these methods - please feel free to contact us if you would like more information, especially about the possibility of mediation.
