| The Housing Bill presently before Parliament will make important changes to the law relating to caravans and park homes.
Link to UK Parliament site for the Housing Bill. The relevant parts of the Bill are set out in Chapter 3 of Part 6 of the Bill. As they stand at the moment: Clause 183 of the Bill amends s. 1 of the Mobile Homes Act 1983 and requires a written statement to be provided before an agreement is made under the Act, unless the proposed occupier agrees otherwise. Clause 184 amends Part 1 of Schedule I to the Mobile Homes Act, improving the position of park home residents under paragraphs 6, 8 and 9 (termination by site owner, sale and gift of mobile home). Clause 185 gives the government the power to amend Schedule 1 to the Mobile Homes Act, i.e. to change the terms which are implied by the Act, and may be implied by the court. Clause 186 strengthens the protection given to occupiers of caravans and park homes by the Caravan Sites Act 1968. Together, these proposed changes substantially improve the protection gven by the law to occupiers of caravans and park homes. The new edition of our book will explain these changes and consider their implications, and will set out the legislation in its amended form. A. W. & C. Barsby will also be offering training on the changes and their significance - see our website www.legalcourses.co.uk for details of our legal training. |
